Havan Kunda

Havan Kunda or Yagya Vedi (fire pit) is used to perform havan or homa, a ceremony that involves worship through the use of the sacred fire. The use of the fire as a means of worship is the most ancient of all rites, going back to the earliest Vedic times.

The kunda is built as a square. With the recitation of mantras, the fire is lit in the kunda using small pieces of wood and items such as ghee (clarified butter) and samagri (herbs). Prayers are offered through the mantras. Vedic Havan is held every 2nd Sunday of the month. Homa is performed at other auspicious occasions too.
